Who is Free for?
Teams running live sensor dashboards, local device communication, replaceable telemetry and customer-built integrations can use Free for real production work. Use it when the application can repopulate its current state from devices after a broker restart. Firmware and integration teams can use the same product in their development environment.
Free has no restriction on commercial purpose, use case, deployment environment or device/message volume. The production-use grant applies to every tier. Paid service commitments are separate.
What can my devices do?
Publish and subscribe through MQTT over TCP/TLS, authenticate through the configured file policy and use topic ACLs.
Inspect connections, sessions and readiness through the bundled panel or the same HTTP API.
The current source supports MQTT 3.1.1 QoS 0/1/2 and the selected MQTT 5 QoS 0/1 profile. Read the MQTT coverage guide and verify the actual installed image.
Live QoS ownership and reconnect state are tracked in memory; restart recovery needs a different storage boundary.
How do I connect a destination?
Use the selected HTTPS webhook route or build a C adapter against the installed public Bridge SDK. The bridge process runs each configured target in an isolated worker. Free keeps unsettled delivery state in memory.
The Build guide shows a complete file-sink adapter and package wiring. The SDK remains available when you later select a durable profile or a provider adapter catalog.
What happens when the node restarts?
Memory state is lost. Your application must republish/reconstruct the readings it needs and reconcile external effects. If broker sessions, retained/offline messages or pending bridge work must survive restart, use Pro with PostgreSQL and verified recovery.
Free includes documentation and the operating skills. Production use remains permitted.
Paid support, an uptime SLA, persistent storage, the provider adapter catalog and fenced standby operation are outside this package.
